Snow Cone Day! - January 23rd

On Friday, we celebrated Snow Cone day in the office with some refreshing Snow Cones! It didn't really help that the heat was not working that day, so we were all freezing. Despite our fingers and toes being frozen, we still enjoyed a delicious frozen treat! :)

We rented the snow cone machine from Zurcher's for $45 for the whole day. We also got the flavored syrups from there as well, for about $4.50 each.

I made the adorable banner on Publisher. It started out as just being a cute triangle banner, but then I realized I could put flavored snow on top and make them snow cones! I just made circles and used the texture patterns Bouquet, Newsprint, and Pink Tissue Paper. Cut them in half (Make sure you cut them a little rough on the top, so they don't look like perfect round tops), and taped them to the triangle banner letters. then attached them to parachute cord using mini clothes pins. Easy Peasy!

Since I now know how to put links to documents on here, here is the template I used for the banner!

Davinci University - Self Defense - January 22nd

Last week, we had Doug from Tigress Women's Self Defense come to Davinci and teach us some very helpful moves! We were taught basic ways to get away from dangerous people trying to physically hurt us. Doug was super nice and very helpful. He even told us to attend his free classes in his studio.

Craft Day - January 16th

This month for Craft Day, we made little desk calendars! We got the idea from pinterest, but used our own templates. The craft was super easy and fun for our employees, because they got to decorate theirs however they wanted. I found a scrapbook paper pad of all of the months of the year, so it was perfect! It had about 5 different sheets for each month, so it was a great variety of paper! I got the pad for 50% off, which was an added bonus.

Supplies Needed:

Chipboard (found at Michael's for $0.59 each) You can use cardstock, but it won't be as sturdy. We actually cleaned out the supply of chipboard and had to buy a few sheets of cardstock instead. We used the cardstock for the smaller bottom piece, and chipboard for the larger pieces and it worked out just fine.
Scrapbook Paper Michaels had the perfect pad of scrapbook paper that had sheets for every month of the year.
Calendar Templates (I made mine on Publisher, by inserting a calendar and changing the fonts. Super easy) Here are the ones I made Calendar 1 Calendar 2 Calendar 3
Decorating materials (buttons, ribbon, scrap paper, etc.) We just used anything we already had on hand (hence the random feathers and weird ribbon)
Binder Clips (or book rings. We couldn't find any rings, so we figured binder clips would be easy and cheap :) we actually bought all silver binder clips for the employees, the ones I used are black.)

I started out by cutting the chipboard into 4" by 6" pieces. I also cut come of those in half long ways, so we could have a base

We then taped the three pieces into a Triangle pyramid like this

Then the fun begins :)

(it won't let me rotate the images, I apologize!)

I only decorated the first four months (didn't have time to do the rest) but I did find the cute paper for each month, and I will soon go back and add embellishments to the rest of them :)

and Viola!

A beautiful desk calendar!
